One of the Keys

Leadership/ Disciple Key

If in eveything you do, you do these five things you will always be raising up the next generation.

1- YOU DO IT. Set the culture, lead the team, love the lonely, pray for someone, heal the sick. Do what you are called to do. Dont wait for someone else to do it. Most of the time people dont move because they dont know where to go or what to do. So lead by example. Be the change!

2- YOU DO IT & BRING SOMEONE ELSE. Take someone on the journey with you. Disciple them! Let them simply see your faith active through your deeds.

3. THEY DO IT WITH YOU. Give them a chance! Let them now act apon the example they have seen. So instead of them just watching you pray for the person, let them pray and then encourge them when they are done. Dont just tell them to go do it alone, let them know you are there to help until they get onto their feet.

4- THEY DO IT ALONE. Give them room to step out. Challenge them and let them stand up by themselves.

5- THEY DO IT WITH SOMEONE ELSE. If you did your job right the cycle should continue. They should go make disciples!

Awesome practical keys!

Matthew 6

I am loving this scripture! Matthew 6 speaks about three ways to build treasure in Heaven and no forfeit heavenly treasures by receiving them here on earth.

GIVE / PRAY / FAST (Not eat, pray, love the horrible Julie Roberts movie that I was forced to watch…. As a result falling asleep on the floor of the cinema in the 2nd hour of the film)

These THREE act partnered together and done correctly bring us into a deeper relationship with the Father and also results in an incredible spiritual accuracy.

1) WHEN

  • Matthew 6v2 “when you give to the poor”
  • Matthew 6v6 “when you pray”
  • Matthew 6v16 “when you fast”

Jesus doesn’t say if…….or if you have time…….. or if you feel like, he says WHEN you give, pray, fast. In other words these three things we should first get a convictions on and then practically, consistently have them active in our lives.

We consistently give through tithes, offerings, gifts, buying someone lunch. We consistently pray privately, corporately, to know Him, for others, for ourselves. Do we consistently fast?

Fasting by definition is abstaining from all or some type of food or drink.

  • Jesus fasted for 40 days before He could walk in the POWER of the Holy Spirit.
  • Nineveh fasted & prayed for three days and turned the wrath of God away from their wicked city.
  • The book of Daniel shows us the power of fasting!
  •  & The Old & New Testament is filled with Men of God taking time to pray and FAST!

2) HOW

  • Matthew 6v1 “”Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.
2  “So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.3  “But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4  so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you”
  • Matthew 6v6 “But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
7  “And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words”
  • Matthew 6v16 “Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.17  “But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face 18 so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

According to Matthew 6 if we will receive NO reward in heaven if;

  •  We practice our righteousness to be noticed by men.
  • If we sound a trumpet when we give to the needy, like the hypocrites.
  • When we pray to be heard my men, with our long, repetitive prayers.
  • Putting on a gloomy face when we fast to be noticed by men.

According to Matthew 6 we will receive a reward from the Father if;

  • We give to the needy in secret.
  • We give to the needy without sounding a trumpet to be noticed.
  • We pray privately and allow our public prayers to simply be a reflection of our intimacy.
  • Don’t fast for men, rather fast privately for the Lord.

Matthew 6v19  “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.20 “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal.

Giving, Praying and Fasting these ways pleases God…& isn’t that the reason we do it for anyway?

A few things I love!

These are a few things that I’ve fallen in love with. I have had the honour to have grown up surrounded by some incredible men and women of God. I’ve learnt a few things.

(1) Conviction over convenience. Its far great to be a person and to be surrounded by people that have conviction. That serve out of conviction. That speak out of conviction. And make decisions out of conviction. When we have had to walk through inconvenient times our true convictions are really shown.

Testimony: In my life one of my biggest convictions are faithfulness & serving. Over the years I have had many times where life has just got intense, hard, and difficult….. but….. one of my convictions is to serve people and be faithful no matter what I’m going through. I’ve often had times where everything (EVERYTHING) seems to be falling apart but i’ve made the choice not to let that effect my faithfullness. My faithfulness to God, People and my calling.

(2) Actions over words. Ideas, concepts, plans, words are fantastic……. but…… unless they are backed up with action they are simply noise. I’m starting to learn that it is far greater to act and then speak, than to speak all the time but never act on the words spoken.

(3) Revelation over opinion. One word from God is far greater (FARRRRR GREAAAATTTEEERRR) than any opinion, thought or view. I continually remind myself that if I can be a person that speaks His words I will be effective, but if I get caught up in my view I will block His view.

(4) Finally. LOVE is the greatest. If you do something out of love….. real love, that is selfless & Godly you cant fail. That fruit will last. Those words will return to Him completing everything He had planned for them. Love can’t & won’t fail.

Salt get outside of your four walls

The easiest thing to do as believers is to fall back into the motions. To keep to ourselves, at work, school, church, in the streets of our cities. BUT. This is not our calling. Let me remind you of one of the final things Jesus said to his disciples.

Matthew 28v19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Our calling is to push down our four walls, to get out of our comfort zone, out of our social clubs, our circles of friends. We are called to love the unloved, to give, to encourage, to give people joy. Not to be an exclusive club that just a part in the community, like some glorified sim city.

We are the salt of the earth! Lets go spread the taste of the kingdom on our work mates, fellow students, family members and general public. Lets put a taste in their mouths. A taste that spoils what they have been feeding on. A taste that stays with them and a taste that they remember as a different strong taste.

And not just when its convenient, the greatest gift is a gift that COSTS.

Push down your four walls and take the first step.

AND THEN

Make a Disciple. Train them in ALL Jesus had commanded. Lets remember the great commission and lets ACT!

Joel.

Get Empty

Luke 6v38 – “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap”

Psalm 23v5- “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows”

God fills us from the first moment we see Him.

Lets be people that are either (1) completely full, running to people to pour ourselves out into or (2) complete empty, running to the Lord to be filled again.

I’m not talking about coming to God to just get stuff to feed people (because that is not the relationship that he sent Jesus to die for). I’m talking about quickly giving to people out of what God has revealed of himself and then quickly coming to Lord asking to know Him more.

If you have a half filled glass of Coke you become apathetic to wither you get the last out of the 2 Litre bottle on the table. But. If you have an empty glass you are willing to do whatever it takes to get the final drops of that amazing brown liquid.

It’s the same with Lord.

Lets not be a church that is spiritually fat (filled and asking to be filled more before we take any action to fill other). Let’s give generously to people. To the point where we need God strength daily, His presence daily, His rhema daily. Lets gives and share about the greatness of our Father.

If every believer from the point of salvation just shared and poured out of what God had revealed. Well. We would grow in capacity as individual and would be able to be led by the Spirit in such an incredible way.

Don’t have a stagnate relationship with Lord. Be filled and make room to be filled again.

Joel
